Hope everyone else on this forum who needed an extra ticket got theirs.

Does anyone have an extra morning and/or afternoon ceremony ticket to spare? My brother flew in from California and I was hoping he could sit with my parents instead. My parents are not super mobile and I am worried about them getting a bit lost in the crowd and it would be nice for them to be together.

In return, I am willing to do any of the following, or possibly more:

- tell you the best kept secrets of Harvard/Harvard Extension after spending many years here
- babysit rowdy kids
- tell unfunny jokes
- attempt to help you fix something mechanical or electronically, though there's not a huge percentage chance of success
- trade you something (tell me what kind of stuff you like)
- show you one Tai Chi move
- share my newfound pen hobby with you
- explain how to maintain cars
- answer questions about reef ecology
- share my philosophies on life
- argue whether Garfield was one of the best comics ever

Thanks and congrats to everyone who's graduating.

I am looking for 2 tickets for the ALM Information technology degree commencement ceremony in Christ Church Cambridge, Zero Garden Street on May 24th 2018. My mom is traveling from India ( who doesn't speak English) just for this event. My wife and 2 younger kids would love to be there. With 2 tickets provided by Harvard, there is no easy way to bring just 2 people from my family. Also, we all are flying from Phoenix, Arizona for the event. It would be a bummer to travel all the way and not attend the ceremony in person. I truly appreciate anyone considering to help us out. Thanks in advance.

Hello, my name is Kevin, and I will soon become a degree candidate of the ALB program. I hold an associates degree in criminology (from a rather lower-tier university), and realized not completing a BA really does affect job prospects. I am an avid learner, and have always dreamed of completing a degree from a higher institution of learning. This is why I chose the ALB program offered by the Extension School (and also for the transferrable credits).

So this brings me to the topic question, what are your experiences of holding an ALB after graduating?? We already know the quality of the program was very enjoyable and rigorous. But I want to know if holding a "ALB" from "Extension School" affected your job applications and/or graduate program applications.

I am not here to instigate another debate about how people perceive Extension School degrees. I am just seeking some people with realistic experiences about how holding an ALB has affected/not affected your future applications. Thank you.

Hi! I'm an ALB student and current recipient of the Gilman Scholarship. This is a scholarship managed by the Institute of International Education and sponsored by the US Department of State for low-income Pell Grant recipients to study abroad. I won't dive too much into the specifics but I mostly share this because it's such a great feeling to put HES on the map! Non-traditional and distance students are an underrepresented group in school as a whole, let alone international education, so I hope this post stirs a conversation for those who desire to support or incorporate an exchange program in their degree and represent the HES abroad.

While this forum is not at all representative of the entirety of the HES, I'm looking to gauge and see if it's worth starting a study abroad initiative for us. Are any of you interested in studying abroad? My aim is to carve a specific part of the website dedicated to international education* to highlight specific programs, a database of scholarships, a blog, webinars (with the help of CARC), and some "peer advisors" from students who've successfully completed an exchange program in the past. Right now the only thing mentioning study abroad is a small section amid other non-study abroad opportunities on the website.

Because of family or other work responsibilities, there are only a handful of students in the HES as a whole who actually move forward with an exchange program. But I still want to make it an option for those who want to move forward with a program in the future. From someone who recently had to go through the arduous process of applying again and again, a more standardized and transparent process as well as resources would really help future students.

* I want this to be different from Harvard Summer since there are plenty of opportunities to study abroad throughout other parts of the year, not just the summer. I didn't go through Harvard Summer under my scholarship or program.

This is my second go around with education. The first time i was funded by the Bank of Dad but this time I have been funding myself up to this point. After this spring semester I am assuming I will be a degree candidate and so I am curious if anyone can offer me any insight as to how financial aid works and any tips would be appreciated. Also, one question I have is to qualification. I plan on quitting my job, renting out my house, and moving to the area in order to go full time, starting with fall semester. So technically at that point I will not have any income (other than rent from my home) however I have a positive net worth. Would I still qualify for financial aid? Theoretically I have enough capital to fund myself, including room and board, over the next 2 years however I prefer to use student loans because at the end of it i'd rather have cash and debt as opposed to no cash no debt. Does anyone know how this works and if HES students are given the same financial aid opportunities as the 'normal/traditional' students? Is it hard to get financial aid in amounts sufficient enough to also cover room and board? Was anyone ever in a similar situation to me? And also, Thank you so much in advance for any information anyone can share with me.
